PES 2018 real team names are useful if you're not onboard with the idea of downloading yourself a pre-built option patch - or worse, the option doesn't exist because you're playing on Xbox One.If you want to play PES 2018 as though it's a fully licensed game, you need to spend time in the game's editor menus and change things for yourself.
Note: This article is taken from Eurogamer.net, and just to give a rough idea to patch fans about what things do patch change.
The process can be somewhat time consuming - with players claiming that changing everypiece of data, including creating customised kits and renaming stadia, leagues, cups and so on, can take as much as 40 hours.
If you're only interested in the team names, however - so that you're not playing with Man Red in a local derby against Man Blue - then you can achieve the desired results fairly quickly and painlessly.
Which leagues have official licenses in PES 2018?
Fortunately, this year's Pro Evo does have a fairly comprehensive collection of officially licensed competitions. A handful of leagues are realised in-game, either fully or very close to it. Here's a list of the leagues that you do not need to edit:
- Ligue 1 Conforma
- Domino's Ligue 2
- Eredivisie
- Serie A - aside from Juventus and the league's own official name.
- Campeonato Brasileiro Série A
- Liga De Chile
- Liga De Argentina
- AFC Champions League
Crucially, note that German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich aren't represented in the game at all. The only clubs teams available this season being official versions of Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and FC Schalke 04 - all of which are listed under "Other European Teams".
PES 2018 real team names list
To assist you in renaming unlicensed teams, we've put together a table that contains all relevant teams and their real-world names. Change these in-game and you'll at least understand who is who when PM Black White knock out London FC in the Champions League.
Note: teams for which PES 2018 has the official license for - such as Liverpool, most of Serie A, FC Porto and Barcelona - have been excluded from the following lists.
English League / Premier League
Arsenal and Liverpool are the only English Premier League sides officially licensed this season, but the remaining 18 clubs need editing.
English 2nd Division / The Championship
Fulham FC is officially licensed this season, so no need to edit the West London side. The remaining 23 as follows:
Spanish League / La Liga
Within Spain's La Liga, PES 2018 features official licenses for Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. Current league and Champions League holders Real Madrid are the highest profile Spanish club requiring an edit.
Spanish Second Division / Segunda Division
Italian League / Serie A
Only Italian champions Juventus require changing here.
Italian 2nd Division/ Serie B
Portugal League / Primeira Liga
In the Portugese League, PES 2018 features official licenses for FC Porto, SL Benfica and Sporting CP.
